The Cottage Design Portfolio

The Cottage was  such a joy to decorate!  The home is situated on my client’s property and began as a quarantine project for her husband and son.  As they began to peel back the layers, including the colorful shiplap that was salvaged and repurposed, her vision began to take shape.  SHD was brought in to help design the finishes and then furniture and decor.  If felt like decorating a dollhouse. Every step of the way, the client was game for my whimsical vision for this sweet space.  We wanted to stay true to the age of the home, maximize the space, and make it feel special.  Everyone who comes into the cottage feels the joyful energy surrounding the home.  We had local artists paint a colorful pattern on the front porch and a “rug” inside on the original wood floors so that before you even step foot inside, you know this home is going to be unique.  We scoured antique stores, Round Top and even thrift stores to accomplish the layers of eclectic, coziness. Custom bedding, window coverings, sink skirts and even a portiere gave the opportunity to play with pattern and color.  It is the sweetest little dream of a cottage.  A slice of Hill Country Heaven.
